Our exciting Science for Schools programme is back at Cheltenham Science Festival from 6 - 11 June 2023 . We’ll be revealing the full programme in just one week, and ahead of the full announcement we wanted to share a first glimpse at the line-up.

We’re so excited to announce that British Astronaut, Tim Peake will be at two school events and a family event on 6 June, talking about life as an astronaut, his time spent on the International Space Station orbiting Earth, and his first non-fiction for children The Cosmic Diary of Our Incredible Universe which explores the wonders of the universe.

And that’s not all. Veterinarian, author and presenter of CBeebies’ Minibeast Adventure with Jess, Jess French will be joining us, as well as NHS doctor, Dr Daniel Olaiya who will be speaking all about medicine at the extremes.

James Piercy who won the Royal Society Radio award for his BBC Radio 4 show My Head will also be with us for an amazing event about blood.

What’s more, we have some incredible workshops and shows lined up for our Science for Schools programme, including Sun Space Art where students will be creating 3D artwork based on space and STEM Theatre in a Box, a puppet show about different scientists. Forest Green Rovers Football Club will be with us for an inspiring event about wellbeing, fitness, sport and sustainable living.

There'll also be a Careers Day for Key Stage 4 pupils. It's a chance for 400 students to be introduced to innovative scientists so they can be inspired to become the skilled workforce needed in many key industries, particularly cyber security.

And finally, we’re excited to celebrate World Ocean Day at the Festival on June 8. There'll be some extra fun aquatic activities to showcase the amazing creatures that live in our oceans.

Our Schools and Family Programme Manager, Matthew Allen said: “We work closely with schools to understand what works for them and how we can enhance classroom learning and the curriculum with relevant and topical events. We offer bespoke packages that make it really easy for the schools to book and which we believe no other science festival offers.”

Keep your eyes peeled for the full line-up announcement next week. Tickets will be available to buy from 8am on Tuesday 7 February.
