Are you a lower-KS2, upper-KS2 or KS3 English teacher in Gloucestershire who wants to boost reading for pleasure in your classroom? 

Would you like to discover the joy of reading aloud, connect with your pupils through shared booktalk and inspire your readers into writers? 

RT=RP: ReadingFor is a free one-academic-year course for KS2 and KS3 teachers in Gloucestershire which aims to: 

  1. Deepen teachers’ and their pupils’ knowledge and understanding of five high-quality and diverse children’s books 
  1. Increase teachers’ and their pupils’ confidence in reading aloud and talking about books  
  1. Facilitate opportunities for teachers to collaboratively plan and prepare whole-class literacy activities in response to books 
  1. Inspire teachers and their pupils through connection with authors 

Courses in the 2023-2024 academic year, each up to 10 teachers:

Lower-KS2 - Mondays - 16.15-18.15

20 November, 22 January, 4 March, 22 April and 17 June 

 

Upper-KS2 - Wednesdays - 16.15-18.15

22 November, 24 January, 6 March, 24 April and 19 June 

 

KS3 - Tuesdays - 16.30-18.30

28 November, 30 January, 12 March, 30 April and 25 June 

Each course will consist of a launch on Monday 9 October, five after-school intensive learning sessions (two hours each) and one end of year celebration on Tuesday 9 July. Teachers will be expected to commit to all seven sessions, attending in Cheltenham town centre.
