FameLab UK 2018
Our grand UK Final saw an incredible show at London’s Science Museum, including seven finalists from across the country. As usual, each competitor had just three minutes to present a scientific concept of their choice and was judged on the content, clarity and charisma of their presentation.
This year’s UK final was judged by Alom Shaha, Helen Scales and Andrew Smyth and was compèred by the Science Museum’s resident comedy duo, Samuel Furniss and Jonathan Milton who also provided interval entertainment while the judges made their decision.
Following an “incredibly impressive” evening of performances, the judges crowned junior doctor, Lucy Guile as FameLab UK 2018 winner. Lucy said:
The FameLab final was a fantastic evening – I had a great time listening to the other speakers and meeting the judges and audience. I can’t wait for the international final!
Lucy is joining the ranks of FameLab alumni, many of which have gone on to careers in broadcasting and performing, like Maggie Aderin Pocock (BBC Sky at Night) and Steve Mould & Matt Parker (Festival of the Spoken Nerd). Former FameLab finalist Kyle Evans is now touring with his own show Born To Sum.
