Our hands-on interactive exhibits are free for the public on a drop in basis. Visitors could spend anything from five minutes to a few hours in these spaces. The aim of these spaces is to inspire our visitors of all ages and to show some of the the incredible science, engineering and technology in the world around us. Visitors to the spaces include family groups, school children of all ages and adult visitors.
We are keen to work with a wide variety of organisations, groups and individuals to showcase a broad range of activities and themes across the space.
Our visitors love:
- Lots of hands on opportunities
- Engaging, interactive and fun activities where they can discover things for themselves
- Enthusiastic, friendly, knowledgeable people to talk to
- Relevant things to take away
Our visitors are less keen on:
- Text heavy posters and display boards
- Long videos
- Leaflets and brochures
- Activities that they watch stand holders deliver, rather than take part in
The Discover Zone sits at the heart of the festival and is a large interactive exhibition space full of hands-on activities.
We ask that stands are staffed at all times during the Discover Zone opening times and throughout the 6 days of the festival. Opening times for the public are 10am – 5pm each day, with late openings on some evenings specifically for adult visitors.
In 2017 we ran our first on site maker space, the MakerShack and we hope to run it again in 2018. If you are interested in exhibiting in this space, please contact us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Other Exciting Opportunities
In addition to the Discover Zone and MakerShack, we also have a range of other spaces available for interactive hands-on activities, including small gazebo-style tents and larger marquees. We are also interested in pop-up activities that can happen outside (either covered or uncovered) at the weekend.

These spaces will be allocated to groups who can demonstrate their stand will include exceptional activities appealing to a broad range of visitors.
