Covid-19 has had a devastating impact on the most vulnerable people in our communities. But it’s also highlighted the huge inequalities that exist within and among the world’s poorest countries. Our daily investigation into the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals with Greg Foot looks at reducing inequalities and promoting equal opportunity with Eva Navarro-López from the University of Wolverhampton and Hannah Cornick from BT.

Biography

Eva is a passionate scientist and an inspiring educator; born in Alicante, Spain, and Mexican at heart. But she is also a computer scientist, a control engineer and an applied mathematician. She has always broken the rules and boundaries of disciplines. She is currently proposing new models of computation, learning and evolution for complex systems as a Reader in Data Science and Director and founder of AiDAs, the Artificial intelligence and DAta science Research Lab at the School of Mathematics and Computer Science in the University of Wolverhampton. She is also modelling important aspects of the human brain.

Hannah Cornick is passionate about embedding sustainability at the heart of organisations. She is currently Head of Digital Impact and Sustainability for BT’s Consumer business which includes BT, EE, Plusnet and BT Sport. Prior to joining BT, she spent 8 years at Tesco where she worked in a variety of roles including Head of Opportunities for Young People, Head of European Communications and Head of Corporate Social Responsibility. She began her career at a public affairs agency where she advised organisations on engaging with government and policy makers.
