FameLab International 2020 goes online

Posted on

FameLab International, the science communication competition owned by Cheltenham Science Festival and delivered globally by the British Council, is back this year in a new interactive online format this November.

FameLab national finalists from 20 countries will take to the virtual stage to deliver their three-minute presentations on a range of topics from the world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, to battle it out for the title of global winner 2020.

The online events will be streamed live on the FameLab YouTube channel:

• 11-12 November: Semi finals
• 16 November: Announcement of finalists
• 26 November: International final

Quentin Cooper will once again host the event – this time from a studio in Cheltenham – and will be joined virtually by a panel of judges as well as audiences from around the world who will all have the opportunity to vote for their favourite talks.

We are excited to take this opportunity to work with the British Council to deliver the FameLab International Finals in an exciting new way and to engage with audiences in a digital space.

At a time when public engagement with science is more important than ever before, the FameLab International 2020 Online Finals represent an important development in the programme’s history, and will allow our participants to continue to build connections with fellow scientists and share their knowledge with global audiences.
