The Times Cheltenham Science Festival is the UK’s premier Science Festival issuing over 43,000 tickets to its programme of events, workshops and interactive activities. Over the course of six days, we hope to inspire, challenge, surprise and entertain you in equal measure.
…around town is our new venture for 2016 which takes the Science Festival out on to the streets, into shopping centres, cafes and community venues around Cheltenham.
We will have three busking spots in prominent positions on the High Street and Promenade in Cheltenham town centre and are creating an exciting programme of live demos, science discussions and performances on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June.
If you have an activity or performance you feel would work well at one of our busking spots then please get in touch. We’re keen to hear from anyone with a passion for sharing scientific ideas and confidence engaging with large numbers of the public who may know little or nothing about your subject.
We’re interested in proposals from a wide range of people, from researchers with innovative ways of sharing their work to musicians and performers with Science themed acts.
Your idea should:
- Work well for a general public audience of mixed ages, assuming no prior knowledge of your subject
- Be suitable for an outdoor setting where audience members may arrive or leave at any point
- Last between 15 and 40 minutes (multiple or repeat performance slots may be possible)
- Be entertaining, unusual, engaging and/or exciting
A negotiable fee will be paid, starting from £50 per busking slot but will vary depending on activity and running time.
