An evening of music and colour at Cheltenham

Posted by on

Music and pictures come together for an evening of pure entertainment at this year’s Music Festival.

Orchestrapaedia is a brand new chamber work by composer Roxanna Panufnik. A co-commission between the Cheltenham Music Festival and the Welsh Sinfonia, the piece mirrors Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra. Roxanna gives each instrument individual human characteristics, brought to life by colourful drawings created by Roxanna’s brother, the artist Jem Panufnik. These will be projected as stills during the performance in Cheltenham.

The work will enjoy its English premiere at Cheltenham Music Festival on Sunday 7th July.
