Beethoven String Quartet No 8 in E minor, Op.59
No 2 ‘Razumovsky’
Beethoven’s immense and startlingly original Razumovsky quartet is contrasted with the sunny disposition of Fanny Mendelssohn’s, and the creative ambition of Haydn’s. Royal Philharmonic Society award winner Grace-Evangeline Mason completes the quartet of composers, making for a compelling recital from the Castalian String Quartet. Having scooped up several major awards, this exciting ensemble is already in great demand all over the world.

A powerful individuality of sound matched by an instinctive singularity of musical intention…amazing players.
Pittville Pump Room is an elegant Grade 1 listed Regency building and perhaps the most famous example of Regency architecture in Cheltenham. Standing in regal splendour at one end of Pittville Park, the Pump Room is a monument to more than 100 years of fame that Cheltenham enjoyed as a Spa town.
The Festival’s morning recitals at the Pump Room are its continuing glory
