For 2019 the Carducci Quartet, a firm favourite of Cheltenham Music Festival audiences, have curated a new programme. A Voyage to the New World explores the works of composers old and new who journeyed from Europe and were inspired by their time spent in the New World, alongside some of America’s most celebrated composers.
The Quartet will be joined by their frequent collaborator and one of the world’s finest clarinettists, Julian Bliss, amongst other performers for a weekend featuring music by Dvořák, Barber, Piazzolla, Copland and many more. With a special Saturday evening concert complete with old American songs and jazz numbers, and musicologist, writer and broadcaster Katy Hamilton providing introductory concert talks, this is an unmissable pre-Festival treat.
Programme includes music by Barber, Berlin, Britten, Bruce, Carter, Copland, Debussy, Dvorak, Gershwin, Glass, Piazzolla, Poulenc, Rachmaninov, Ravel, Reich.
