New works by Michael Zev Gordon, Sarah Rimkus, Bethan Morgan-Williams, Ayanna Witter-Johnson and Christian Mason
The Ligeti Quartet have garnered a reputation for intelligent and energetic interpretations of contemporary music. For this performance they bring us four world premieres, with works from Composer Academy Director Michael Zev Gordon, 2017 Academy alumni Sarah Rimkus and cellist Ayanna Witter-Johnson (commissioned by Cheltenham Music Festival), and one from 2017 RPS Composition Prize winner Bethan Morgan-Williams (supported by the Susan Bradshaw Composers’ Fund). The programme is completed by a new work from young composer Christian Mason, written for the Ligeti Quartet.
