David Cohen cello
Bach Cello Suite No 1 in G 15’

Philip Glass Quartet No.3 ‘Mishima’ 15’
Schubert String Quintet 50’
Who better than the peerless Carducci Quartet, celebrated for their mastery of repertoire from Mozart to Stockhausen, and charismatic young cellist David Cohen, to present the world premiere of a Festival cocommission by Gloucestershire-born Gavin Higgins. Inspired by the boundless reaches and minute details in the photography of Andreas Gursky, Higgins brings his boldly imaginative style to this new work. Paired with Schubert’s posthumously published String Quintet, which features some of his most profound and restrained writing, this recital is set to be a Festival highlight.
Supported by Mary Mackenzie, Richard Walton and Friends. Gavin Higgins’ ‘Gursky Landscapes’ supported by The Garrick Charitable Trust.
Pittville Pump Room is an elegant Grade 1 listed Regency building and perhaps the most famous example of Regency architecture in Cheltenham. Standing in regal splendour at one end of Pittville Park, the Pump Room is a monument to more than 100 years of fame that Cheltenham enjoyed as a Spa town.
The Festival’s morning recitals at the Pump Room are its continuing glory
