London-based 12 Ensemble has evolved from a visionary group of like-minded musicians into one of Europe’s leading string orchestras. A pioneering un-conducted ensemble, they have developed a reputation as an exhilarating collective offering audiences powerful musical experiences. Formed in 2012 by Artistic Directors Eloisa-Fleur Thom and Max Ruisi, 12 Ensemble’s unique approach to presenting diverse music sets them apart in today’s shifting musical landscape. The group performs internationally at concert halls and festivals, including three appearances at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall, regular concerts at the Barbican and Wigmore Hall plus tours to the US and Asia. The ensemble has released two critically-acclaimed albums, Resurrection (2018) and Death and the Maiden (2020). Recent collaborations include working with Radiohead guitarist and composer Jonny Greenwood (recording his soundtracks to Oscar-nominated films Spencer and The Power of the Dog), and with singer Nick Cave, recording the album Carnage and appearing in his latest film.
