Naoise Dolan has won acclaim for her pithy character observations and wry understanding of human nature in her caustically clever novel, Exciting Times. Biochemist Camilla Pang was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of eight. On learning from her mother that an instruction manual for humans didn’t exist, she set about writing a blueprint to life that culminated in Explaining Humans: a fascinating exploration of human nature and the strangeness of social norms that unravels everything from decision making, to etiquette, to relationships. They discuss their experiences of being neurodiverse and consider how it impacts on the creative process with Abigail Bergstrom.
