Saxophonist Evan Parker is widely regarded for his improvising genius, having spent over thirty years working in the UK and internationally. His collaboration with electronics duo Spring Heel Jack, who made the unlikely move from drum‘n’bass to jazz back in 1999, has now expanded into the five-piece band Trance Map+ with Adam Linson on bass and Matt Wright on laptop and turntables.

Spring Heel Jack members Ashley Wales and John Coxon have been making music together for over 25 years. After making six jungle and drum’n’bass albums for Rough Trade/Island Records in the 1990’s they began working with free jazz musicians including Matt Manieri, Han Bennink and Wadada Leo Smith. Their first recording for their own label was Birds with Evan Parker, and bird-like sounds still enrich the music in this project which explores the intersection between composed and improvised music.

Cheltenham Ladies' College, Parabola Arts Centre

Parabola Arts Centre is located in a Grade II listed building in the glamorous Montpellier district of Cheltenham. The centre was built as a facility for students of Cheltenham Ladies’ College and to be used as a public arts centre by the local community.

The original, listed Bayshill House was transformed into a gallery, bar and foyer area. The villa also houses all the rehearsal spaces, offices, video editing suite, dance studio and library. This means that the regular activity of the building takes place in the light, beautifully restored listed building.
