The Christian McBride Big Band has a sound which respects the past while looking forward. Playing originals from their acclaimed new album Bringin’ It, this will be the band’s first ever UK show and the only British date on their European tour.

Five-time Grammy winning American bassist Christian McBride is more than just a bandleader: he’s also host of NPR’s Jazz Night in America show and Artistic Director of Newport Jazz Festival, to name just two of his many roles. He will be joined on stage by an 18-piece band, vocalist Melissa Walker and Danny Ray, the legendary stage announcer for James Brown, who gives the leader an old-school intro before playing his thoroughly modern music.

McBride’s exciting big band is the perfect festival draw – steeped in old-school swing, Latin jazz, funk and Ray Charlesian soul-blues, bristling with hotshot soloists.
