Further names have been added to the line-up for the 2017 Cheltenham Jazz Festival, which returns at the end of April with a bold programme packed with jazz and blues legends, superstar international acts and outstanding emerging talent.

Amongst the second wave of acts confirmed for this year’s festival are multi-Grammy Award-winning jazz diva Dee Dee Bridgwater, the legendary Robert Cray, a timely Cheltenham debut and 30th anniversary performance from cult Australian experimental trio The Necks, US tenorist Chris Potter, UK drummer Seb Rochford with an exclusive first performance from his brand new trio featuring Chicagoan bass flautist Nicole Mitchell, The Hot 8 Brass Band, and Norwegian whirlwind Marius Neset, who will perform material from his critically acclaimed album Snowmelt with a specially curated UK ensemble.

Representing the younger generation are the likes of rising star US saxophonist Logan Richardson, who last year appeared alongside Christian Scott, and 20-year-old blues-fusion guitarist/singer Marcus King with his fiery brand of soul influenced psychedelic southern rock (“Jaw-dropping” – Classic Rock), while for the first time this year, The Daffodil will host a late-night residency led by cult London swing ensemble Kansas Smitty’s House Band with special guest appearances from the festival line-up.

The 2017 Cheltenham Jazz Festival takes place from April 26th – May 1st and is hosted in a tented festival village in Cheltenham’s Montpellier Gardens, featuring a Big Top stage, the Jazz Arena, food stalls, an on-site record shop and the Family Tent with Town Hall, Parabola Arts Centre and Daffodil venues all within short walking distance of the picturesque spa town’s centre.

The full Cheltenham Jazz Festival line-up will be announced on February 10th. Sign up for News to be among the first to hear about it.
