The science communication competition that inspires pupils to become scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians.
FameLab Academy is a schools initiative which seeks to revolutionise science communication in schools. In the competition, Year 9 students, supported by their teachers and a STEM Mentor from the world of academia or industry, prepare 3 minute presentations to explain a scientific topic in a dynamic and engaging way to a panel of judges. They will be judged on content, clarity and charisma.
Our partnership with the British Science Association enables finalists in each school to achieve a Bronze CREST award. The winner from each school receives a Masterclass in science communication, a work placement in a local STEM company and entry into the regional final.
I have learned so much and taking part in this project has made me seriously consider a career in a STEM subject.
“Hello all Future FameLabbers! What can I say other than, jump up and dive head first into the most amazing parts of science by taking part in this fantastic competition!”
An excellent project, which was exceeding well managed and coordinated. It was a privilege to participate in the project which provided a fantastic educational experience for the students. I would thoroughly recommend FameLab Academy to all schools.
FameLab Academy is a sister competition to Cheltenham Festivals’ FameLab – the world’s leading science communication competition which discovers and promotes the best new voices in science, technology and engineering, and has been hosted in 30 countries.
