About Tony...
Tony has been involved with the Festival since it began in 1995 and became the artistic director in 2001. He is a key figure on the British contemporary jazz scene, being at the helm of Birmingham Jazz and an advisor to various national arts funding organisations. Tony recently retired from the University of Birmingham following a distinguished career teaching English as a foreign language. In 2003, he won the BBC Radio 3 Jazz Award for services to Jazz.
