We are really pleased to continue our partnership with the Jerwood Charitable Foundation with regards to hosting a creative bursary scheme recipient. The DCMS Jerwood Creative Bursaries Scheme is a pilot programme funded by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Arts Council England (ACE).
The Scheme acts as a springboard to launch talented recent graduates into careers in the arts. The arts industry is notoriously hard to break into so this scheme provides a new route into arts professions for those who are not in a financial position to work for free.
After a rigorous recruitment process earlier in the year we were thrilled to appoint Michael Smith as the Literature Festival Programming Assistant under the banner of the DCMS Jerwood Creative Bursary Scheme. Michael graduated last year from Kings College, London with a degree in English Literature with Film Studies. Michael is supporting the Literature Festival Programming Manager in the lead up to the 2011 Times Cheltenham Literature Festival as it continues to grow and expand within the Festival Quarter of Cheltenham.
