Composer and arranger Mike Gibbs has worked with legendary artists including Pat Metheny, John McLaughlin, Joni Mitchell and Peter Gabriel across four decades. Over the years, Mike has composed and arranged music for films, television, albums, ballet, jazz groups, symphony orchestras and is equally conversant in modern, traditional, jazz and classical styles.

Mike Gibbs is one of a number of true jazz legends appearing at this year’s Cheltenham Jazz Festival. His 12-piece ensemble, led by pianist Hans Koller will perform Mike’s latest compositions and arrangements, featured on a new Whirlwind Recordings release, alongside some arrangements of Gil Evans material.

Programme Advisor to the Jazz Festival, Tony Dudley-Evans, recently caught up with Mike ahead of his appearance at this year’s Festival. Click above to watch the full interview.
