Dame Felicity Lott studied French and Latin at Royal Holloway College (University of London), and this concert brings them together in Cheltenham, the town of her birth and upbringing. The mastery of both Britten and Poulenc’s writing for solo and choral singers is displayed here, alongside specially commissioned settings of Baudelaire and Donne by Gabriel Jackson and Antony Pitts. Michael Berkeley’s songs triangulate the connections with Britten and Poulenc.
