4th Annual Budvar Brewed Jazz Competition

Cheltenham Jazz festival

Back for the 4th year running, the Budvar Brewed Jazz competition, in collaboration with the Cheltenham Jazz Festival is looking for the very best pub jazz bands in the UK.

The winners will go on to perform on the Budvar Stage as part of the internationally renowned Cheltenham Jazz Festival and will be given a slot in the Fringe festival 2012.

"Although practically everybody agrees that our Budweiser Budvar beer is the ultimate in drinkability nobody has ever managed to define exactly what that means; likewise our relationship with the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. All we can say is that it works superbly. The chemistry between us is brilliant, the jazz and the beer combining in a fantastic sensory experience. That’s why as a world class beer we are so thrilled to be sponsoring this world class festival for the third year running." —Tony Jennings, CEO, Budweiser Budvar UK

“They always win over audiences with their uncomplicated and joyful music.” —Tony Dudley Evans

Tony Dudley Evans writes… The Mc3 Hammond Organ Trio is a hard swinging trio that recaptures the Hammond Organ sound of many Blue Note albums of the 1960s and 1970s. It features two graduating students from the Birmingham Conservatoire jazz course, Matt Ratcliffe on hammond organ, Tymoteusz Jozwiak on drums plus Matt Chandler on guitar, and they have been working around both the East and West Midlands including a number of gigs with saxophonist Tony Kofi. They always win over audiences with their uncomplicated and joyful music.
