The Jazz It Up Marching Band officially opened Jazz on the Square, starting the weekend in style. Made up of musicians from Gloucestershire schools, the band worked the highly-talented music educator and jazz guitarist Sid Peacock.

The Young Scientists’ day is an exciting opportunity for schools to introduce their gifted and talented Year 6 scientists to hands-on experimental work in fully-equipped laboratories, led by the science team at Cheltenham College Junior School.
In 2010 the children spent the day investigating the capabilities of the human body through three practical sessions covering biology, physics and chemistry. The theme was Peak Performance.
In 2011 the theme was Saving Planet Earth, and the children explored renewable energy, melting points and carbon footprints.

Part of our expanding programme of focused science activity days for talented young scientists, Girls’ Day is aimed at KS3 girls with an aptitude for science, and comprises three hands-on sessions in fully-equipped laboratories at Cheltenham Ladies’ College.
Girls Day is a unique opportunity to explore fascinating topics in like-minded company. The girls were joined by some inspiring young women with a background in science who work in a variety of roles in companies and institutes including L’Oréal, who sponsor the day.

The Christmas Lecture was conceived by the Honourable Company of Gloucestershire in a bid to help reverse the alarming decline in the number of scientists and engineers in Gloucestershire and nationally.
Designed to make learning fun, these free science shows for KS3 pupils are presented by leading science communicators These pupils will soon be making GCSE choices, so the Christmas Lecture aims to persuade them of the benefits of sticking with science.

The Bandwagon is an ensemble of 6th form musicians from Gloucestershire schools, led by leading music educators. They visit primary schools all over the county, giving ‘flashmob’ performances and creating music with the pupils. Every visit culminates in a performance for the whole school and parents.
