Science for Schools 2015
Another successful year welcomed 73 individual schools, more than 5000 pupils and saw 13,300 tickets issued over the four fun filled days. Pupils and teachers experienced action packed shows, engaging workshops and explored the fascinating world of science technology, engineering and mathematics in the exhibitors Discover Zone.
The Science for Schools programme offered 16 exciting interactive shows which included explosions and programming in ‘Error 404:Bytes with a Bang’, lots of mess in ‘Slimey Science’ and in depth questioning in ‘Cracking the code for Genetics’. Hands-on workshops ran throughout the four days giving pupils the opportunity to design and build ‘Egg-cellent Martin Landers’, investigate ‘Mighty Magnets’, look at ‘Life beyond the planet’ as well as become real life ‘Crime Investigation Detectives’ to highlight just a few of the experiences.
What did teachers say?
My pupils loved it and many went back again over the weekend with their families. They rated it very highly on their list of all-time favourite school trips. Several have now decided they want to be scientists or engineers, which has to be the best result of all.
We all had a superb day and felt very inspired.
We loved it – this was an incredible trip and we would say it was the best one yet!
What did the pupils say?
It was the best trip I’ve ever been on. I want to be a biologist… now!
It was really exciting day and I enjoyed doing lots of hands on experiments in the Discovery Zone
The time flew by, with lots to do, and I can’t wait to go again next year.
Cheltenham Science Festival 2016 is on 7th-12th June
