FameLab was set up in 2005 by Cheltenham Festivals in partnership with NESTA to find and nurture scientists and engineers with a flair for communicating with public audiences. Since 2007, thanks to a partnership with the British Council, FameLab has also gone global.
The competition is made up of 3 stages:
Entrants will start their FameLab journey taking part in Regional Heats and Finals between November 2016 and March 2017. If successful, all regional finalists will move on to participate in a mandatory Masterclass on the weekend 31 March – 2 April 2017 and the UK National Final at the Science Museum in London on 26 April 2017.
The winner of the national competition will then move on to compete against 25+ other international finalists to win the title of FameLab International Champion at The Times Cheltenham Science Festival in June.
